Mary's Peak

Kaitlynn decided it would be cool to hike up to the top of Mary's Peak. Crystal was an innocent bystander that got tricked into going along. ..okay that's not true, she was a willing participant.It took us about 3 hours to get to the top of this 4,097 foot beauty, but the view and the sense of accomplishment was worth every minute.
Joei didn't think so though.Aw, girl bonding time.

Ah... observed holidays! We took advantage of the days off and headed towards the hills...Jefferson Wilderness to be specific. This was our first backpacking of the season.

We camped near this meadow the second night. It is always a weird feeling to walk from a dense forrest of Douglas Firs and Pines into a wide open meadow.

We built this shelter to practice, maybe next time we will spend the night in it.

Mount Pisgah

We found a neat little baby mountain in Eugene area to hike, called Mount Pisgah. We hiked to the top of this 15oo foot "mountain" and got a great view of the Cascades and a snow capped real mountain.

Graduation

Crystal walked in OSU's graduation ceremony on Father's Day. There were over two thousand students walking in the ceremony.

Scotty celebrated his 24th birthday in style with a man BBQ. The group pitched in to get him a finger board.
The boys wanted to see Scotty in action so they made a make shift pull up station for the finger board.

Dox at Smith Rock

Doxology took a field trip to Smith Rock last weekend. We were treated with an assortment of weather, a sampler if you will. The diversity of weather was to the point that you could both get a sunburn and struck by lightning.

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery...

...got some climbing in...

...played with wildlife...

...and enjoyed our time together by the fire. (Check out the shade/rain structure in the back of this picture...the ladies made that).

Happy Mother's Day

We went camping with Crystal's family for Mother's Day. We stayed at House Rock, just 20 miles East of Sweet Home. We had a beautiful spot by the river, it's still early in the season so it was very quiet.

We hiked some trails, one that led to a waterfall. We climbed around on the rocks by the falls, but Joei had a hard time with the boulders so Scotty stayed with her on this ledge.

This was our first time out to Smith this year. The weather was perfect and the rock not too crowded.
